The Top 10 creations were chosen by a public vote with this year’s winner named after a “Judges’ Tour” that brought the critics to the culinary competitors instead of a downtown event open to the public as in year’s past. Organizers cited the expense to restaurants and sponsors as the reason behind the change.
Deciding this year’s champion were MLive reporter John Gonzalez, Grand Rapids Police Deputy Chief Daniel Savage, chefs Gilles Renusson and Luba Petrash of GRCC’s Secchia Institute, and sponsor representative Anna Anderson of Valley City Linen.
Participating restaurants included Bagger Dave’s, Bar Divani, Blue Dog Tavern, Bull’s Head Tavern, CitySēn Lounge, Cottage Bar, Fish Lads of Grand Rapids, Flanagan’s Irish Pub, Founders Brewing, Garage Bar and Grill, Grand Rapids Brewing Co., Grand Woods Lounge, HopCat, J. Gardella’s, McFadden’s, Peppino’s, Raad’s Mediterranean Grill, Rockwell Republic, Sanchez Bistro, Stella’s Lounge, Sip Organic Juice Bar, Tavern on the Square, The B.O.B., The Cheshire Grill and Vault Express Café.
